The resource magazine "Science World" by Scholastic would be beneficial to middle schoolers. It is always tough to get students to read, but to read facts and data in science can be very difficult. With a class subscription to "Science World" the students will become actively engaged on today's science topics and discoveries. During the first week of school the students were introduced to 3-item paraphrasing and loved it. After reading an entire science related article and collaborating in locating 3-items to summarize each of the paragraphs, the students successfully achieved the main idea in three simple sentences. By utilizing a subscription to "Science World" the students can stay interested and will read about the world around them. The magazine is colorful, attractive and resourceful. The Magazine will be beneficial not just to the students but to the teacher as well. A hundred students would be participating. The school at which I work for has an AVID program and is Title 1 qualified.
