I am the Technology Education teacher at a small school in North Central Indiana. K-12 is under one building. It is a very small and close group of students and teachers. The community is a bedroom community, meaning everyone sleeps here and works in another town. Most travel at least 30 miles to work each day. In my communication class we are currently learning about the graphic process and how graphics are used in all aspects of life. A project that I believe would greatly benefit the students is screen printing. Screen printing is a communication that students can relate to and see everywhere in the world. I try to give my students REAL WORLD examples, not examples that they can see in a book or read in a magazine. I want students to see and feel ever thing, so when they leave me they can understand how things are made and how it works because they did it. I have only a few materials for screen printing. I would need a few more frames, ink, squeegees, and Poly Blue. Again I really believe the students will not only get to design their own shirt, but see first hand how t-shirts are made.
