My Students

Do you remember what it was like to see colors being mixed together and creating other colors or seeing for the first time that something was magnetic?

My students are five and six year old kindergartners who are just beginning their journey in school.

Our school is located in a small city in Louisiana. My class consists of students from different backgrounds, including a variety of students with special needs and English Language Learners.

My Project

Kindergarten students learn so much through hands-on exploration. They learn through touching, seeing, listening, and playing with the materials around them. My classroom has a center time each day where the students explore in different areas of the curriculum. My science and discovery area is weak and needs more hands-on materials for the students to explore and manipulate. The students love going into the center and exploring and I would like to continue to build their interest by adding some additional items.

Play and exploration are so important to kindergarten students.

A new discovery center full of wonderful hands-on materials would be a great edition to my kindergarten classroom and a great way to begin their journey through school.
