My 5th- 8th graders are an amazing group of students. They are faced with many challenges coming from a ruler area. They work hard to overcome many daily challenges. As a teacher it is my job to ensure that I provide them with the best learning experience, and with this project I can do just that.
My students attend a rural school in Tennessee.
We are a very poor school with limited resources to help students. At our school we area full waiver school, in which no student pays for materials for class. We are only allowed to suggest materials for students, which are the basics: paper, pencil, crayons, scissors, and glue. Being that I teach middle school our students require a few more materials. I spend a lot of personal money trying to buy my students binders and dividers so they can be organized. We work very hard to ensure our students have the basic and any extras that we can not afford we just do without. So with this project being funding I can make sure they have a better education that is equal with others.
My Project
With these materials my students will be able to have the resources that are essential to their learning. It is in our standards that we use dictionaries and thesaurus. It is very hard to teach students with two copies of dictionaries and thesaurus to spread around. With these materials I will be able to give each student a dictionary or thesauruses that they can explore on their own. I will be able to make sure that every child is given the opportunity to do well.
My project is important because my school nor myself can provide us with these materials.
I have tried for four years to work this problem out and have yet to do so. These materials are important for my students and Thier academic success in school.
