I am a Social Studies teacher for 10, 11 and 12 grade students at Galileo Academy. I focus on making the educational process more meaningful for my students by assigning projects that are experiential and student oriented. That means that I keep my lectures short and have my students learn by doing class projects, writing and making presentations. I found that with these teaching methods my students are more engaged and they love learning! I continue to be amazed with the creativity that my students demonstrate and produce with their work.
The biggest barrier to carrying out my lessons is not having enough basic classroom and art materials for my 171 students to use. With the school budget cuts, my classes are sorely in need of basic materials such as college ruled paper, markers, pens and rolls of butcher paper (for making posters, etc.). The supplies that I'm requesting would provide a year-long of fun learning. Our students would be most grateful for your support in funding this proposal.
