My Students

Do you remember going to the fair as a child? Maybe your parents took you. Perhaps you rode the roller coaster, fed a baby cow or looked thru the farming exhibits. Fairs are a great, memorable way to introduce children to the world at large.

Students at my school live in a small, rural community in South Carolina.

In large part, their experiences about the world at large are brought to them thru their education. Especially at the elementary level, teachers help students get a glimpse of what the world outside of their own community has to offer. Part of our role is to help students prepare for all of the fun, exciting parts of their journey thru life; as well as the dangerous things that may alter their lives in ways we dare not imagine.

My Project

The 100 "Too Smart to Start" workbooks and 100 bracelets with anti-drug/alcohol/tobacco slogan will help educate our second graders about the health risks associated with using those substances. These items will correspond to our school-wide Health, Wellness and Safety Fair. Many agencies are volunteering their time and expertise to help further these aspects of student learning.

We appreciate that money is scarce for so many parts of the world.

We realize that these workbooks and bracelets are a luxury. However, in conjunction with our Health, Wellness and Safety Fair, we hope to make a lasting impression on our youngest students so that they will grow up to make smart choices about drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Thank you for your consideration of our request.
