Kindergarten children spend most of their day engaged in various activities on the carpet. This proposal requests a new classroom carpet. Presently, we are using a recycled carpet remnant. Our carpet must be periodically re-taped as it is used. A new carpet will provide a space for my 19 students to participate in literacy, building, exploration, and quiet activities. I am a kindergarten teacher with 19 students in my class. Our school includes special needs pre-k, through 3rd grades. Our school and community is recovering from Hurricane Katrina. As a result, our instructional budget has been dramatically reduced. This trend is expected to continue as our local school board rebuilds parish schools destroyed and damanged. Your support of this proposal is sincerely appreciated. My students and future students will benefit from your generosity. A new classroom carpet will encourage student participation in classroom activities.
