Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

For the past five years, I have worked at a low performing school where resources are limited. I teach 5th grade, multiple subjects. However, in the age of technology, I want my students to compete with other students in project based instruction. Therefore, with the use of an LCD projector, I will give my students an opportunity to access instruction using technology. Students will be guided through webquests portals to complete projects by researching information on the internet. Currently, my students are finishing a project based on our theme, CIVIL WAR. The students are benefiting from this experience, but that experience would have been more effective if I had the use of a LCD projector. The LCD projector will connect to student's instruction by demonstrating how to use search engines in the classroom and provide access by teacher modeling the lessons. Finally, we are beginning a new unit, NEW FRONTIERS, which is westward expansion. Students will again be given the opportunity to use web portals to locate and retrieve information for this project to be completed. Moreover, all 31 students in my class will be active participants and will be working in cooperative groups to complete this project. Therefore, with the use of the LCD projector and the computer lab, students will follow the directions and will complete this project on their own.
