My Students

My students must get back on track if they are to have the opportunity to one day go to college.

I teach pre-algebra to at-risk 9th grade Academy students.

The 9th grade Academy is a special program designed to prepare students for the academic rigors and demands of a college-prep high school. This program is a startling wake up call for my students, who were unaware of how unprepared for 9th grade they are. This is a unique opportunity for my students to get back on track, with special attention focused towards their reading and mathematical problem solving abilities. The outlook of next year's educational budget does not look good, but where does that leave my students? My students lack sufficient high-tech tools for daily math instruction activities. The tool my students currently need is a HP printer that can be used to print multiple copies re-take pre-algebra tests needed for my students to actually master fundamental concepts. This resource will enable my students to have multiple opportunities to tackle pre-algebra test and quizzes.

My Project

A HP printer is needed to bridge my students’ skills from the course expectations of pre-algebra to skills that will be necessary for higher level math classes. A HP printer will be able to remind my students on a daily basis that they can reach for more in my class by showing them that I won’t ever give up on them learning math, or in high school, or in life, as my course focuses on developing the cognitive skills required to transition into college-prep. They will know that an HP printer is a stepping stone on their path to college. In addition, a HP printer will assist in improving my students standardized tests scores, and other assessments, until they are masters of pre-algebra.

Your financial assistance will increase the chances that my students will gain a more significant understanding of mathematics via a HP printer, moving them one step closer to graduating from a college-prep high school, and eventually enrolling into a junior college or university.
