My students need 1 large cubby that will help our room stay organized.

I teach at a charter school in the South Bronx. My students are 36 wonderful 5th and 6th graders with special learning and language needs. Our school is in a high need area in the Bronx. Despite their challenges, these students strive to succeed.
As a teacher for 9 years, I have learned the value of using math materials to help my instruction. Over the years I have gathered more and more materials in my classroom. However, as I have gathered materials, I have begun to run out of space. Due to space constraints, I am now sharing a math classroom with another teacher. With two teachers and over a hundred students coming in and out each day, my room can become very disorganized. As my principal once told me, a great tool for creating an inviting and innovating math class is creating a room that is "Organized for Effort".
Help us organize our room! In our math class we use math materials to help us understand difficult math concepts. The students learn that our materials are tools that help us learn. To keep our room organized, we need a cubby! This one piece of furniture would allow me to neatly put away our math materials while at the same time making them available and accessible to my students.
Just think about it, a simple cubby can provide solutions to the problem of space in my classroom. At the same time, math materials can continue to be accessible and available to my math students. By funding this project, you will change the instruction for many students in the South Bronx.
