Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Capturing students' attention in this fast-paced, media-saturated, digital landscape is no easy task. But many teachers, such as myself, are working furiously to bring that technology into the classroom. I teach 4th grade in a high-need community where many of the students come from inner city backgrounds. My students are culturally and academically diverse, ranging from Gifted to Resource (with learning disabilities). One thing all of these kids have in common is that they are curious about the world around them, and they want to experience learning through different media.

Our school of 400+ students has one digital projector, shared across all grade levels. Needless to say, it is now 3 months into the school year, and our class has yet to have a turn with the projector.

I know a digital projector would greatly benefit the students because they love using technology! They are fascinated by computers and are excited to use them in their learning. They would be able to use the projector to share their PowerPoint research projects, create visual displays, and all sorts of digital goodness! I would be able to share photos, presentations, and even videos to enhance my teaching.

Please help our classroom achieve our academic dreams. We want to be able to share our learning with others, and this project would help us do that!
