Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Help my struggling readers by giving them just right books for their class library. I teach second grade teach in a high needs, urban school. "Just Right" books give students the opportunity to read texts at their level. Students need texts at their level in order to grow and become real readers.

Only one of my students is reading at grade level. The rest of my class is reading at a K or 1st grade level, and all the books in my class library are too difficult for them.

By having books at their level, my students will be given a chance to catch up to their grade level. They have a love for books, and love read a-louds, but this will give them a chance to practice reading independently.

You will give me second graders a chance to be readers and reach their goal of 1.5 years of growth in reading.
