I am a Title I reading teacher for grades Kindergarten through Third. Because we live in a high-need community, there is a large number of students who come to school below grade level in reading and need intervention from Title I everyday.

As a Title I teacher most of my kindergarten (and some of my first grade) students only "sort of" know their letters. We spend much of the first grading period learning the alphabet and focusing on initial sounds through our intervention program. Sometimes, this just isn't enough.

In order to help my students go from "sort of" knowing their letters to SORTING letter sounds, I need one set of the Alphabet Teaching Tubs. These will allow my students to manipulate objects, decipher beginning sounds, and match them to appropriate letters. The storage crate will make the tubs accessible to my students and provide organization to our classroom.

You can help my students gain alphabet mastery by providing the materials to allow for additional (and entertaining) practice time in the Title I classroom.
