With so many budget cuts this year I feel extremely lucky to be teaching such a great group of kindergarten students. I have been given the opportunity to help these five-year-olds grow and develop into life-long readers and I want to take every opportunity possible to foster their love of reading. The school where I am currently teaching, is in a high-need community and many families are simply trying their best to make ends meet. We all know how important reading is in school, as well as at home, and I want to help bring reading alive in my students' homes by providing them with books and activities to do with their families.

Many parents of the students that I teach cannot afford to purchase any extras, including books or other learning materials. I feel that with the help of the Take-Home Packs from Lakeshore Learning, my students and their families will have the opportunity to not only help bridge the gap of learning between school and home, but also bring families closer by providing them with activities that they can do together. My hope is that these take-home packs will help encourage at-home reading.

The resource that I need for this project is a set of Read Together Take-Home Packs so that every child in my class has the opportunity to experience the joys of reading and responding to literature at home with their families. This project will help foster a love for literature, while also aiding my students in developing their comprehension and writing skills and their abilities to respond to literature and relate to text.

Students become readers in the laps of their parents or guardians. Please help make my students' dreams of becoming great readers a reality. Without these Take-Home Packs, many students will not have the opportunity to experience the joy of reading with their moms or dads. You can help make this dream come true. Make a difference in the lives of many children by donating to our project.
