Teaching students a new language is a great way to help them communicate with others. My first grade students are learning a new language with their hands...sign language!

I will be teaching several first grade classes sign language this year. The students are very excited and eager to learn, but I do not have the materials to help support the curriculum.

With the grant "Signing Time" I will be able to provide my students with fun and entertaining videos to help teach them ASL (American Sign Language). The videos are from the award winning series "Signing Time." My first grade students will learn signs for the alphabet, numbers, colors, animals, and many other vocabulary words that children are exposed to every day.

You will help make it possible for the first grade students at my school to learn sign language and develop a unique way to communicate with others. The benefits of learning sign language include communicating with people who have hearing loss, increasing IQ scores, and advanced reading skills. Learning sign language is fun, engaging, and great for visual, spatial, and tactile learners.
