My 2nd graders love to learn! Research has pr oven that students learn best with concrete, Hands-On materials. Therefore, I'd like my students to have access to more manipulatives to provide students with optimal learning opportunities. One particular set of manipulatives desperately needed is overhead projector manipulatives. The overhead projector is an excellent resource for my visual learners and is very engaging. Small groups of students will use these materials to create their own learning opportunities to share with classmates. Another resource needed is Sentence Rods. These word cubes provide students with hands-on words that they can manipulate to construct complete sentences. They can be used independently or in small groups. Word Family magnets and games are an excellent way for students to experience learning with confidence and enjoyment. Students will use these interactive and engaging manipulative to increase their sight word vocabulary. Finally, student timers help students manage their time-on-task and provide an opportunity for challenging themselves. They can be used independently or in small groups.
