Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 1st grade in an inner city school, with mostly minority students. Every year I make them a memory book so that they will always remember their 1st grade class. I believe that 1st grade should be the best year of their lives.

Since our school is low income, with 90% free or reduced lunch, I usually purchase these materials with my own funds. However, after Ike made a huge dent in my personal finances, this year I need help.

The materials will be used to put together a memory book for the entire year. I do this every year for all of my students. It is such a joy to see the look of accomplishment on their faces when they see the finished product and recall Thier individual moments of success.

It is one of the sweetest moments when the students see their pictures and their accomplishments; sounds of "Oh look!" and "I remember that!" fill the room. Your generous contributions will help make these wonderful memories lifelong encouragement for my students.
