I teach Reading, Social Studies, and Language Arts to a wonderful group of fourth grade students.

My students lack the learning opportunities and benefits that come from a technologically-enriched classroom. Countless minutes are wasted xeroxing and distributing paper materials or students waiting on me to write down notes on the whiteboard before we can discuss the content as a class. These are valuable minutes that I truly believe could be better spent on more interactive forms of learning that we could enjoy if we had technology in our classroom!

I have submitted this proposal in the hope that I will receive the funding for a document camera in my classroom. A document camera will allow an entire class of students to view text, images, slideshows, video clips, live demonstrations with various types of math or science manipulative materials, examples of sentences for students to edit, etc. Engaging, highly interactive lessons could easily be designed centered around the technology offered by this valuable resource. This new technology in my classroom will surely raise my student's engagement in the material we are learning about across all of the subject areas in fourth grade!
