My students need 3 triple beam balances and 3 digital scales.

I am a science lab teacher in a high need district of New York. It is my pleasure to work with students from grades 3-5. In the lab students with special needs can investigate alongside their regular ed. Peers. All of the students love coming to the science lab. In the lab they can look forward to having a hands on activity to help them learn and discover a love for science.
In my classroom, we are measuring! We use thermometers to measure the temperature, rulers to measure length, and we try to measure mass, but that isn’t so easy. We have pan balances, but our pan balances leave a lot to be desired, they are difficult to balance, and we often have to use clay to get a correct measurement. Real scientists need real tools to help them get their job done right! But sadly, our districts economic problems put these scientists at a disadvantage, we need some balance. Triple balance beam and digital to be exact!
The solution to this problem is simple. Our science lab needs 12 triple beam balances and 6 digital scales. Having triple beam balances in the lab would allow the students to practice measuring metric mass! The triple beam balances I am asking for are durable and perfect for young scientists. Our science lab also needs 6 digital scales, so our young scientists can test their metric measurements and know they getting precise measurements.
With your help, we can bring a little balance into my young scientist’s lives. Please don’t let enthusiastic young scientists become discouraged! With our triple beam balances, and digital scales we just might discover we have the next Nobel Prize winner learning in the science lab!
