Our school in the Bronx now has a DVD player and a nice TV, which is wonderful! Sadly we have no DVDs to use with it. Our floor has 7 sixth grade classes that would love to have some excellent Discovery channel DVDs on any of the units we'll be studying this year in out ancient history curriculum this year! The DVDs can be quite expensive, but can be shared easily and will last a long time. Also, using the technology in the classroom allows the students to hear from primary sources (historians in ancient civilizations) and provide pictures to go with the words they see in books. How does an Egyptian dress? How did Romans fight? These questions can be answered visually for the students!
