I teach 4th grade in a low-income school on the south side of Chicago. Often science is disregarded in the curriculum at our school, partly because we have so few science materials. I am asking for a human skeleton for our Human Body unit. It would be so beneficial for my students to see an actual skeleton, rather than just look at a picture in a book. The visual and tactile learners in my classroom would especially benefit from such a direct, hands-on activity, and their appreciation for, and understanding of, science would improve dramatically. I know that if my students had such an experience, they would not soon forget it, and the way they look at science would change very quickly.
