Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 6th grade English and Social Studies. In a addition to teaching gifted students, I teach English Language Learners and students at risk. Our school has a small population compared to other middle schools in our district. Our neighborhood is nice, but many students come from as far as 30 to 40 miles on a bus everyday to attend our school, and this project would bring my classroom to life with large, bright visual displays. Making History and English come alive through Power-Point presentations, LCD-projected presentations and video are awesome tools to bring standards-based curriculum to my students. The problem with our screen is that it is not big enough for my students to access the information and take notes from the presentations. The current screen in my room is 70"x70" and has a a very small viewing section compared to the the 96''x96" screen I am requesting for my students. This would increase the viewing surface by more than two feet square and give visual access to all my students from anywhere in our room. What a way to get students involved and engaged with larger visual displays using a vividly large screen. Please help make each of my students' educational experience bigger, better and more accessible. Our school purchased awesome technology carts last year. These carts are fantastic tools to help kids learn using the computer and the technology they are used to using everyday. Now with the state budget crunch, all of our funds have been frozen and we can not buy anything. My current screen in my room does not allow all students to see details in primary sources or text. This makes for time consuming lessons for the students because they can not see what they are supposed to be looking for. A larger screen would allow for all my students to access our curriculum.
