Hydroponics And Healthy Eating

My students need 10 books about hydroponic gardening.

I teach culinary arts for students in the 11th and 12th grade that are interested in the food service industry and I would also like to incorporate the art of hydroponic as a means of producing foods for their well being and nutrition.

With the country not having as many farmers and a lot of city dwellers. Students need to know how to produce nutritious foods by hydroponics. Using hydroponics students can regulate growth without using a lot of dangerous chemicals and insecticides. They know the type of nutrients to add to produce an abundance of vegetables, fruits and leafy vegetables which they can share, make extra funds, and save for later use. Students honestly have no understanding about how food is produce and the fun of producing and picking foods you have grown. I think hydroponics is a good start for them and also, learning them about aqua culture.

Resources are not bad but with the budget cuts from the government on education the funds aren't available for a lot of purchases. Hydroponic kits are available and also small greenhouses for production in the winter months. Plants are needed (or seeds to produce the plantings). Fertilizers are needed like nitrogen, iron, etc. Perlite for some plants that will need support for their root systems. Plastic poly for lining frames made to fill with water and 1 inch styrofoam insulation boards 4 x 8 for floating to hold the plants. Students will see how easily it is to build a hydroponics garden and how easily it is to produce a much healthier food source.

Your help with this project will possibly create enough interest that some my want to become our future food providers by starting growing our foods via hydroponics. Any help with this type project would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time and consideration. I would love to communicate with you about my project and let others see the importance of learning to produce more nutritious and healthy foods via a hydroponic style.
