Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I work as a library media specialist in an urban elementary school in Rhode Island. Within my library I have established a computer lab complete with DLP Projector, screen, document camera, and computer workstations. Most of this equipment has been provided through the generosity of donors, some of whom have contributed before through DonorsChoose.org.

Our library media lab is used every day by our student body and staff. Our students range in age from 3 years old (preschool) to 11 years old (sixth grade). We do projects as simple as reading from a common text, to writing a newsletter and working on all types of social studies and science projects.

Our current DLP Projector is near the end of its useful life and we do not have the funds to replace it. With a new DLP Projector, we will be able to continue our collaborations and projects with students and faculty.

In this age of high technology, a DLP projector is as critical to a library media lab just like the printing press was critical to Johannes Gutenberg! Quite simply without the projector we will be unable to work as a class group in highly efficient and creative ways. Please consider donating to this project. We assure you that your donation will be put to good use on an everyday basis, and it will benefit our whole school population. We thank you for your consideration!
