We are not just kindergarteners, we are a close community of learners. My students are general education kindergarteners in a school that is classified as a title one school in a high-need poverty level area. My school is a brand new school that is just starting up and trying to provide optimal materials for the students. However, with a new school the budget only allows for so much. It is difficult to provide all classrooms with the materials that are needed for best possible success for each child. All year we focus on becoming flourishing writers. Writers that are successful, determined and knowledgeable of the writing process. We focus on the importance of understanding that writers have unique and intelligent ideas that can be shared through print. My goal is to provide my students with a writing center that allows them to optimally develop in the area of writing. I would hope to have an area where students can find the materials that they need to have the opportunity to produce an array of written materials. A center where they feel encouraged and successful to take chances and explore the world of writing and how it pertains to their lives. With your help, my kindergarteners can see how exciting it is to learn to write. How they can feel accomplished with their writing outcomes. With your generosity my students can have the chance to use materials that allow them to explore all types of writing. This center would allow them to thrive as writers and move into their future educational experiences with previous successful writing experiences! My kindergarteners need writing materials, different types of paper(lined, construction, etc.), writing utensils, an easel to show instructions for the writing center or to stand as a painting easel, paint, smocks, writing tablets, mail boxes, stickers, markerboards and a kindergarten smart guide from Leap Frog and a table for writing.
