My students love to read and be read to! They are a precious group of third graders in a low-income community.

Studies have shown that if a student sees the front cover of a book, that student is more likely to pick it up, then if they see just the binding. Our bookshelf in the classroom is one that only shows the binding. A case to display our beautiful classroom library would help me show off our books and get the kids reading them!

We have chapter books and picture books in our room, and one of our favorites is "V is for Volunteer" by Michael Shoulders. Shoulders writes ABC and number books with historically and culturally accurate information. His books are beautifully illustrated and would be perfect to display on a front-facing bookcase. The titles we are asking for are: Count on Us: A Tennessee Number Book, The ABC Book of American Homes, 1 Mississippi 2 Mississippi: A Mississippi Number Book, M is for Magnolia: A Mississippi Alphabet, Natural Numbers: An Arkansas Number Book, and D is for Drum: A Native American Alphabet. These books will be a great start to our Michael Shoulders collection!

Helping us proudly display our books would get my students interested and get them reading even more than they do now!
