This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Hello!!! I am a teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing. I teach 1st-4th graders in a low economic area. My students travel from all over Chicago to come to our school for our deaf and hard of hearing program. When next year begins, it will be my third year with most of my same students. Each year we are studying about science. The students love learning about the world around them. Materials are getting harder to find and are expensive. Each year I am looking for more science materials. It is very hard to have the same students each year, because unlike other teachers I do not use the same material each year. As my student's understanding of science grows, I have to look for higher level material. My students are deaf and hard of hearing. Their way of learning is visual or tactile. They need to be able to feel, touch, and see science. My students learn best when they are able to learn science through experience. I want them to love science as much as I do. I am asking for a donation to set up a science center in my classroom. After my students read their science book, I want them to be able to go over to the science center and explore with their hands and eyes. My students and I would appreciate this donation, they are wonderful happy students who want to learn.
