Just because I teach in Santa Barbara please don't think that my classroom is modern or high-tech!! Quite the opposite. Life is most certainly not a beach in my classroom. I am a fourth grade teacher at a public school comprised of a half Latino, half white student body. A third of the students are on free and reduced lunch.

We recently received a grant to provide each classroom with a new computer but not a printer. The printers that we have used in the past are not compatible with these new computers! I have recently managed to establish a functioning Internet connection in the classroom. Between Internet related projects and word processing, a printer is absolutely necessary in our classroom. Issues often come up in class that peak student interest. After locating information on the Internet, they are unable to share it!

With a new, compatible printer, the current obstacles that limit my teaching and my students' learning will be overcome.
