Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Listening center has caught up with times and is only offering compact disc's. I am a kindergarten teacher in a title 1 low SES school. My classroom is the first stop for students on their way to a bright future.

We currently have a listening center which offers students an opportunity to listen to stories on tape. However, I have currently hit a road block. I have always ordered new listening center books that students show an interest in or is incorporated into our themes. I recently went to order and was stunned to find out that the company no longer sells the books with cassettes. They have converted to compact disc only.

In order for me to give my students the most up to date literacy program in the classroom I will need to order a compact disc listening center. Our classroom will then be in need of a way to listen to these and this why we are asking for a compact disc/cassette listening center. My students will be able to benefit from our current cassette listening center library as well as enjoy the latest and greatest books that are now on compact disc's.

Your donation will help our kindergarten students hear and appreciate all of the great pieces of literature that our out there. This will give them the opportunity to listen to stories they may never have heard. My classroom is sometimes the only place my students will hear a story. If I can give them the opportunity to hear and look at books during the day then I feel I am giving the best possible exposure to literacy.
