Hooray! This project is fully funded

I am the only ESL teacher at the High School of Economics & Finance. Our school is one block south of the World Trade Center, the closest school to Ground Zero. After 9/11 we lost our library, videos and many of our textbooks. Over the past four years our teachers have written proposals for grants to fund the rebuilding of our school. Slowly and surely, we are recreating and improving our wonderful little school of about 750 students. We have 56 ESL students in our program at the present time. In the last few months I have received substantial grants to buy books for my ESL students. I have purchased 40 recorded books with CDs so the students can listen along to the book as they read. I have purchased historical novels on 4-8 and 6-12 reading levels to help students learn English by reading full-length novels, reinforcing their built-up knowledge as they go. Reading historical novels (both Global and US History) helps the students gain knowledge for their history Regents as well as improving their English. We have purchased biographies as well. The books are arriving, but we were not able to buy bookshelves for them; the funds were for books only. We thought that if we could get an INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH BOOK TRUCK we could move the books from room to room and share them with our special needs classes. It's so wonderful to have the books. Now we need a place to put them! Thank you for your consideration.
