This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
General music at the Williams Elementary School is doing great! My children, who are mostly from underprivileged backgrounds, have a wide variety of musical experiences including performing on Orff instruments. Unfortunately, my set of instruments is incomplete because the glockenspiels I ordered over a year ago never came, and funding in my school is hard to come by. Glockenspiels are wonderful instruments that add a bright sound to the Orff ensemble and are small enough to be used by even my pre-kindergarten children. Over 300 students will be able to use the glockenspiel because I use Orff instruments with all of my PK-8th grade classes. More students will be able to have xylophone experiences and we will be able to add additional color to the ensemble's sound with the glockenspiel.
General music is often the first experience children have with music instruction. Thank you for helping my program give the best musical experience to my students!
