Ms. Woods from Washington DC is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a replacement Sony Progressive Scan DVD/VCR Combo Player to provide further educational resources for reading and mathematics. They will also be able to use this as a resource for our listening center!

"It was an accident"!, said one of my students. Truly it was. My second grade class and I were in the middle of having our room painted when accidentally the multimedia cart toppled over and our DVD/VCR player was destroyed! My students need all of the extra learning they can get while in my classroom. We are located in Southeast, Washington, DC and many of our parents are barely able to provide their children with all of the items needed for school throughout the year. At home, they are not exposed to the many manipulatives that are utilized in our classroom to assist with their learning. It's been 7 months since our DVD/VCR player been gone. We have had to provide more creative hands on interactive activities as an extension of my instruction as well as during centers. We have become a bit bothersome to other classroom teachers by asking them for their media cart. We don't want to take away from another classroom's lessons but we just want a chance to sing songs relating to learning that we have been trying to commit to memory. We really miss being able to watch Schoolhouse Rock, hip hop math as well as learning the Spanish language through Dora the Explorer and lessons on exploration through Blues Clues! All of which are still located in our classroom, but are hard to watch with just a television and no media players. Our learning will continue but without our DVD/VCR player, our interactive multimedia learning is not taking place!
