I currently teach general music grades pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. I teach this subject to inner city students in Illinois. The student make up is primarily Latino with a small minority of African American and Asian.

The class sizes are generally between 30-35 students. However, I only have instruments for 3/4 of the students. Many of the primary students end up sharing instruments or do not receive any, therefore, hindering them in the general music education.

However, providing these instruments would not only allow me to do more movement and group activity songs with the Tom Tom Drum, Bass xylophone as well as Latin Rhythm Kit, it would also allow me to create more variety in the curriculum; thus enhancing the music education.

I want these students to have the best musical experience possible. By supporting this project, you would be part of the solution. You would allow the students to have more instruments as well as more variety in the curriculum planning. This would enhance the student's knowledge about music. By supporting this project, you would allow more students to participate. Lastly, you would allow for a greater enhancement in the music program giving the students a better education as well as a more diverse opportunites to become better musicians.
