My social studies classes consist of highly diverse seventh grade students. Some of my students are very affluent, while others live in subsidized housing. Many are rural students but some have moved from more urban areas. Some are very capable students, and yet other struggle. I find teaching here challenging but very rewarding.

Currently my students can only view a Power Point through a TV connection. Although the TV is large, the students cannot see well to take notes. Nor do they get the full experience of any exciting video that I have. The experience is incredible on the larger screen!

According to research stated in A Handbook for Classroom Instruction that Works, there are nine categories of instructional strategies proven to improve student achievement. Of the nine, a LCD projector could be used to facilitate learning in the following categories: -Identifying similarities and differences -Summarizing and note-taking -Representing knowledge -Setting objectives and providing feedback -Cues, questions, and advance organizers All these best practices could be implemented with the use of a LCD projector.

Supplying my students with a LCD projector will make learning a visual experience. Teachers are in competition with the electrifying world of video gaming and other technologies. Please give my students a real view!
