Making secret formulas with the use of every day house hold items will inspire my young students to become scientist and creative inventors. Mixing common ingredients together will make science more exciting and fun. The following list of items are needed: food coloring, sponges, glycerin, baking soda, cups, coffee stirrers, colored stickers, clear plastic cups, clorox, drinking straws, coffee filters, plastic bags, craft sticks, etc. I am a second grade teacher in a very rural area of NC. Even though the items can be easily attained, parents in this low income area can not afford to send them. I believe that science exploration is the key to improving problem solving skills and creating motivated students.

I love to inspire my children to think, explore and investigate. Children naturally love to mix and make formulas. However, with limited funding and growing economical concerns, I did not think I could ask my parents to donate the consumables needed for developing "secret formulas" in my classroom. I hope that a donor will find the "explorer" in his heart and help me with this exciting way to investigate and make formulas.

The resources that I need are mostly consumable items that are often times found in science supply labs and local grocery stores. "Secret Formula" investigations will help my young scientists learn to appreciate that through observations, experimentation, and creative thinking that they can really make mixtures with exciting possibilities.

The help from donors will make it possible for my young students to have a first hand experience knowing that anything is possible. Investigating secret formulas will help my students understand the limitless possibilities of exploring.
