Exploring Our World

My students need an LCD Projector in order to view power point presentations internet sites during whole class and small group lessons. Viewing enlarged images projected on a screen of various animals and plants that we will be comparing and contrasting during our year-long "explore our world" theme will allow them to hone their scientific observation skills!

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

We have a very small space with no room for multiple computers and no funding for technology. We are a charter school with a focus on educating parents so that they can help their children to succeed. We also have a science/environmental education focus. We are located in a low income community.

We have very little technology equipment on our campus. There are no computers in our classroom other than my personal laptop that I bring in daily from home. The students have a lot of curiosity about the animals and plants in the habitats we are studying, but I do not have enough books and magazines with animal pictures and my laptop screen being small, it is difficult to show a larger group of students pictures that I have downloaded.

Using an LCD projector, I could create power point presentations on my laptop, and present them to students in large and small group settings. The presentations could include large scale real life photos and diagrams of various plants and animals we are studying. Much of our work in science has to do with observing and describing animals, and learning how to compare and contrast animals based on physical attributes. The LCD player would make these activities more accessible to my students, many of whom have never been to zoos or had experience with many animals.

Please consider donating to this project. I am really excited about opening up the world of scientific discovery to my students! I think that the LCD projector would be an ideal tool to help me "open the world" to them. Thank you
