How would you like to open the world to a group of 7th grade students? I am a teacher in a low-income, high-need middle school. My students are extremely creative, but lack the resources to implement many of the new technologies available to them. Many of my students do not even own a computer at home and have never used a laptop or portable electronic device. These students are extremely bright and eager to learn about technology. As 7th graders they are curious and creative when coming up with solutions to the problems presented to them and with your help, can have their eyes opened to the many wonderful and helpful technology of the future.

Our school is located in a middle to low income area of the country that is mostly agricultural. The population is mostly above the age of 30 and as a result many of the students I teach do not have access or any one to teach them how to use the new technology that is part of most people's everyday life. I am a social studies teachers who makes it a personal goal every year to show how the past connects with the future, but I need your help to continue this. I have shown students how to create audio only podcasts in the classroom and publish them online, but the students want to push the bar higher.

We would like to purchase a HD camcorder to create our own podcasts with. We do not have the money available in our school system to purchase one, so we are turning to you for help. My students are very excited about podcasting and are working hard to create their first audio only podcast, but they have so many ideas to include video that I want them to have the opportunity to do so. They are an extremely bright and creative group of students and with your help they can shine brighter and realize that learning about social studies does have ties to their future.

You will make it possible for my students to explore technology that you use everyday and spark an interest that may affect the rest of their lives. This project is very important to our class and we hope that you can help us reach own goals, because we can't do it without you.
