A projector/laptop stand and storage unit is, for teachers and students nowadays, like a launching pad to the world. Exposure to other cultures - the sights and sounds of the world beyond (and even within) our country's borders - is fundamental to a fuller understanding of one's place in the world. It also might well be the key to an improved cross-cultural climate on Earth. I am a language teacher in a rural school setting in Virginia characterized by moderate poverty levels and a shrinking tax base.

Due to the scarcity of expensive audio-visual technology in my school, my students are scarcely able to see or hear the beauty of other cultures - their people and their music. There are very few LCD projectors available for classroom use, and funding is nonexistent for such luxuries as computer speakers and additional projector carts and the like.

I have made my own investment in my students' world education by purchasing an LCD projector for daily use in my classroom, but this is an expensive investment that needs protection. And sound! With the projector/laptop cart I have requested, I will have both a surface from which I can launch my students out to the world and a safe nightly storage facility for the protection of this investment in my students' future. With the computer speakers I have requested, my students will be able to hear the audio over the hum of the projector. And the power strip is what will make it all happen.

Your help will ensure that my students EVERY DAY have access to the launching pad to the world.
