Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I want to inspire all of my current and future students with light by exploration and inquiry. I teach eighth grade physical science. Most of my students are minority (mainly Hispanic), and some of them come from migrant working families.

My school district has little money. The budget for science teachers is the same as all the other teachers in the school. So we have the same budget as the LA teachers, SS teachers, etc. So buying even consumables comes out of our pockets. So even acquiring larger (non consumable)items is limited. The students love learning about light and color. They learn the difference between light and pigment and lenses.

I do not have enough equipment to serve all my students. The equipment I currently have is in inadequate to really show them how light interacts and show the primary colors of light. The light box and optical sets have everything to teach refraction, reflection, and light.

Show all my students that white light is more than just light. You can help them explore light and how it interacts through different mediums.
