My students need 20 books, including a number of Irish themed titles, selections from Ruth Heller's World of Language Series and Eric Carle's "Mister Seahorse".

I teach 2nd grade in an at-risk elementary school. The children in my class are at risk both economically and academically.

My students enter school in an at-risk situation. Their language suffers and is below grade level by 1-2 years. They have not been afforded opportunities which would build a rich language base.

To build a rich language base, I have incorporated the use of specially selected trade books to enrich the language of my students and to supplement our existing curriculum.

By helping to purchase these books, you are bringing experiences to 20 students per year. Through literature, they travel to places and have opportunities that many of them would not have otherwise. These are language experiences that these children would not have without your help. Thank you so much for helping my students.
