Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Come this September, a new cooking class has been developed based on the cooking curriculum I was implementing with my special ed class last year. It was amazing, they didn't even know they were learning math, science and of course literacy because they were having so much fun. Not to mention the opportunity to learn how to create a great meal. It was all the craze and the kids did so well, especially the special ed students because it was so hands on! They were so proud of themselves. Their glowing faces were priceless.

I have been approached to teach this new class and we cannot afford all of the appliances. These students come from impoverished backgrounds and I want them to have an amazing experience when they walk into my classroom in order to forget all of their outside stressors.

My students need kitchen appliances in order to have these classes. The appliances include 6 of the following George Foreman Grills, Toaster ovens and microwaves. We also need 5 double burners. Lastly, I would like to take pictures of their finished product to assist the students whose special needs call for a visual. The students will have an ongoing project throughout the year to create a recipe book using the recipes and a photograph for each meal they make in class.

With your help, we can give impoverished, special needs children an opportunity to experience something unlike anything they ever have. Please join me in making this happen for them.
