I am a first grade teacher in a high need community. It is a Title 1 school with a large ESL population.

Many of the students are from low income and government subsidized housing. It is extremely difficult to get essential school supplies from the parents.

The purpose of the materials is to make a Moose Binder for each child so that they can keep their work organized. There are rules regarding the contents of the binders. There will be sections for homework and returned homework, study guides, news and announcements, parent/teacher communication, behavior charts etc. Students will be required to bring their binders to school everyday. Everything that they need for the day's work will be in this binder. The resources needed are 2 pocket folders, binders, sheet protectors and mailing labels. The completed binders will help students become more responsible and organized. This project will also serve as a boost for their self esteem as they try to become Fully Responsible Organized Growing Children (FROGS).

Your contribution towards this project will really help my students to take more responsibility for themselves. Since the population is mostly English language learners, there will be more parent teacher communication also. The project would foster great three way collaboration between teacher, students, and families.
