Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

"Music is the only language in which you can not say something offensive." This school is the smallest of 4 middle schools in our city and is the highest economically challenged. It is a Title 1 campus with over 80% of the students on free or reduced lunches. Because of continued budget cuts the band program is not able to give the students what they need to succeed. The addition of storage cabinets will help students feel safe about leaving their instruments and will keep all of the musical materials safe.

Parents spend hundreds of dollars on instruments for their kids and sometimes other students, both in the band and not, will steal part or all of their instruments so they don't have to purchase their own.

Adding these cabinets will add a great deal of security for the smaller instruments which are more often the victim of theft. This project will also increase storage space in a very small cramped space so we can fit all instruments safely and efficiently.

Your assistance will ensure the continued growth of the band program which in turn will assist more students build self esteem, lasting friendships, leadership, and a love of the arts.
