A wonderful way to celebrate reading and inspire young children to read is to enjoy a Dr. Seuss classic such as "Green Eggs and Ham".

Each year my class celebrates Dr. Seuss' birthday and "Read Across America Day" by listening to a variety of Dr. Seuss books. My current collection of Dr. Seuss books is very limited and thread bare because of many years of use and reading by little hands. Many of the Dr. Seuss titles I purchased when I began teaching fifteen years ago have been discarded because they were beyond repair. Therefore, each year, I check out of the library as many Dr. Seuss titles as I can possibly find to use in my reading celebration. How wonderful it would be to have my own collection to use throughout the entire school year with my students.

My students need a nice selection of Dr. Seuss books for listening enjoyment and to use when learning about rhyming words. My students will not only enjoy listening to the classic titles, they will also have an opportunity to choose their favorite Dr. Seuss book and create a classroom graph to showcase in the hallway.

With your help you will make it possible for my young students to develop a love for reading by enjoying Dr. Seuss books. They will enjoy listening to the funny, ear-catching rhyming words as only created by Dr. Seuss. This collection will also be used to introduce my students to the wonderful world of independent reading, as they began to recognize many of the words used throughout the books.
