A colorful, hands-on approach to any class can inspire even the most reluctant student. This is how I like to conduct my classroom. I currently teach eighth grade science and find that anytime the students are offered a lesson that has them cutting, gluing, and coloring they are instantly more engaged.

The challenge in my classroom is not in coming up with lessons that allow my students to tap into their crafty side, but in having the necessary supplies in good condition. I teach at a school with a high percentage of students that are of a low socioeconomic status so I like to be able to provide the supplies they need for class. The supplies I have are getting to be in pretty bad shape.

I really need a fresh supply of things such as glue, markers, crayons, scissors, and highlighters. The ones I have are dried up and broken. I have found that not only are the students more engaged with activities that involve craftiness but the colors help them to remember what we learn because they associate the information with what they created in class.

Please help my students out. Anything that can help motivate to really get into the lessons is worth the cost. This is something that can help my students all year long with many different objectives. It seems so simple but is surprisingly powerful
