I teach a wonderful group of second-grade students in Louisiana. Our school is PK-3rd and my students come from a variety of backgrounds. My class is an inclusion class.

My students and I work hard every day to improve our reading comprehension skills and writing skills. It is difficult, however, to compete with the electronic stimulation they get at home via television, video games, computers, and media players.

The old adage, "If you can't beat them, then join them," has inspired me to meet my students where they are in this technologically-advanced world. To spark my students' interest in reading and writing, I would like them to create their own podcasts about books they are reading and then share those with other students via our class web site. In order to create the podcasts, we will need MP3 recorders/players that will create the digital files needed to load on the Internet. Califone's new MP3 recorder/player is perfectly suited for this task and is built tough to last through daily use in the classroom; I would like to get 5 of these for my class.

Your generous contribution will not only help me to get materials we need in the classroom, but it will also enable me to provide a learning experience for my students that has the potential to affect them for many years to come.
