My classroom of 3rd grade students come from a low income community, where unemployment is rising, which in turn is creating a greater need to educate. They are becoming a high risk population.

Cuts in school funding have created a need for supplies. My students show interest in mysteries and this theme is continued in the 5th grade with a Mystery Dinner Theater.

Audio tapes fuel my students need for external motivation. It allows many to enjoy reading for the first time in their entire life! I need a set of books and audio to accompany them to help motivate my learners. I am requesting 14 copies of Afternoon on the Amazon, 14 copies of Joe Sherlock Kid Detective #1, and the Joe Sherlock Audio Series. It will get them off on the right foot by providing a format of reading that interests them and help them begin to develop healthy reading habits. Mysteries also help students learn to problem-solve and "think" about their reading.

Your donation will make a positive impact in the life of my students. When nothing else motivates a student, an audio book seems to do the trick. Thank you for making a difference!
