Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Thank you for deciding to read my proposal. I am a Pre-K teacher who encourages children to write and illustrate stories as much as possible. Children love to express themselves and I feel it is so important to encourage them to write early. The children in my care are eager to learn and love to explore. Writing is essential in the early childhood program. I am hoping to receive journals the children will be able to use in class during centers. These journals take several months to complete but when they are finished, they have personal books they can be proud of. These books are cherished by both the parents and the students themselves. My First Writing Prompts Journal is a great way for children to get started. Each page has a simple prompt and the children select a word from the word bank at the bottom on the page. My First Draw & Write Journal is a little more challenging. The children will have to write a sentence on their own and draw a picture. My First Picture-Word Journal is a great way for the children to learn to spell words and illustrate words. The Early Skills Language Journal will be used to teach letters and simple words. The children will also have an opportunity to strengthen their fine motor skills by tracing letters and numbers. Lastly, the Poetry Journals will be used for my afterschool class of first graders. The children will have an opportunity to read poems and then will write about the poems in their journals. I absolutely love to see the sense of accomplishment and joy when the children complete a piece of writing. We even have publishing parties with iced tea and cookies. We all enjoy our young author's stories. Please pick us, we can't wait to start writing!
