Learning From Our Mistakes!

My students need copies of "Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl" and supplies such as glue guns and foam boards to help them understand the holocaust and help them not to make the same mistake again.

Please help us bring History to life for our students. Our students cannot afford the extras needed for this proposal. Over 80% of our students receive free lunch. Don't hold this against them. As we explore the period of World War II, our students will visit the following stations and participate in hands-on activities.

1. WWII Aircraft: Students will explore the different types of aircraft using during WWII and devise their own foam planes. Using the foam boards and glue guns, we will be able to make replicas of different flyers. 2. Fact Finding Expedition: Using the textbook, students will answer questions that are found in the WWII section.

3. Navajo Code Talkers: Students will understand who the code talkers were and participate in code breaking activities. 4. Atlas: Using a historical atlas, students will analyze WWII battle sites and create their own maps using classroom sets of colored pencils. 5. Pearl Harbor: Students will listen to the speech made by FDR the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor. They will analyze photographs taken at Pearl Harbor. 6. Video: Tora! Tora! Tora!

Your help will bring supplies, including colored pencils, needed to create these stations. Also, if you help us purchase a class set of the "The Diary of Anne Frank", we will spend four weeks studying WWII. Thank you for helping us make a difference in our future by studying our past.
