Will our young children be ready to join the global society of the 21st Century? I am committed to helping prepare my first grade students to do just that. My English learners are highly motivated by our bi-monthly visits to the school computer lab. They have discovered the power of web research and slide presentations for sharing what they have learned in class.

First grade students' abilities to use technology are highly underestimated. My first grade students have shown interest in web research via pictures and preparing slide show presentations via MS PowerPoint. These are important skills for them to learn as they progress through the educational system. As they approach high school, they will be contributors to a global way of communication that we cannot begin to fathom by today's standards.

Offering primary students experiences with current technology is key to making them feel comfortable with it. Young students deal in the concrete and pictures say it all for them. A digital SLR camera will help them take fast action shots of the continually moving world around them. They will be able to produce photo essays and use sequencing skills with the fast action shots they take of themselves or animals in action.

Your donation will empower my first grade students by building a stronger foundation for them in the use of the latest digital photography equipment. They will be empowered to share their view of the world with the pictures they take and make slide show presentations. They will build their technology skills and be better prepared to join a global society.
